DREAMS IN SCRIBBLES

Hopes and dreams in ink

Who am I?

Welcome to my world of words! I am Anaya Sheth. I am 12 and currently in 6th grade. I am writing since the age of 6. I love reading and (you guessed it!) writing. I want to be known worldwide for my writing one day.

DREAMS IN SCRIBBLES

Hopes and dreams in ink

  • Anaya’s class was invited to school to meet the teachers and visit the school premises. It was Anaya’s first time in big school. She was very excited and had a great time there. She wrote a poem on her experience there.

    MY TRIP TO SCHOOL

One day my mamma got a message from school

‘A TRIP TO SCHOOL’ note which I found quite cool

I was so giddy with excitement that I jumped with joy

I hadn’t been to school in one and a half year

On the trip day, I could barely pay attention in online class

I was busy daydreaming and wanted to go there fast

My dear teachers were waiting for us all

I knew then and there that I was gonna have a ball

At first, I was feeling a bit shy

Meeting everyone, my tummy had butterflies

We chatted with ma’ams and wrote about our favourite ones

Then we danced and played a fun new game

The teachers took us to show the school building

It looked humongous and felt like never ending

I saw my classrooms and many other places

Seeing the huge library, now that was amazing

I was really really pleased to meet my teachers

They were all very kind and quite amazing

This was a very enjoyable and exciting day

I wish soon I will go to school everyday!

  • Roald Dahl is my favourite author. He is a British novelist who is a very famous children’s writer. He has written many bestselling books like Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory etc.

I have read many of his books and liked them all but The Witches is an extraordinary book, one of the best I have ever read. It is a fantasy and horror book. This is the book which inspired me to write my own stories.

The Witches is about a boy and his grandmother who want to get rid of Witches forever. Especially ‘THE GRAND HIGH WITCH’, The ruler of the witches! The witches want to use their weapon to kill all the children of England. They are hatching a terrifying plan. Who will succeed?

My favourite part of the book is the beginning – A Note about Witches. It has the perfect description of them. They are not ordinary witches like you see in fairytales. This book is about ‘The Real Witches’.

The best character in the book is of ‘The Grand High Witch’ because she has a really scary face and a very clever plan. Even other witches are scared of her!

My favourite dialogue in the book is the motto of all the Witches. ‘One child a week is Fifty-two a year. Squish them, squiggle them and make them disappear.’ Are you scared yet?

The only thing I didn’t like about this book is it is frightening, a little too frightening.

A movie was also made on this book with the same name. I felt the book was a lot better than the movie. The movie was not very descriptive or even imaginative and I found it a bit boring.

  • Letter given to Anaya on her birthday:

    Our precious child,

You were our love at first sight.  We always wanted a daughter and there you were. 8 years ago. Perfect tiny human. From that moment, you had a sparkle in your eyes. Looking all around with your big eyes. Till now, you are still the same grasping everything around you with a sparkle in your eyes.

Your daddy and I are so grateful to have watched you grown into this beautiful, intelligent, imaginative, strong, argumentative, determined and smart young girl. You are everything we had always hoped for and much more. We would never be able to tell you how much we love you because no words are enough for that.

We both are insanely proud of you, baby. We are happy that you are becoming independent. You are a voracious reader and you writing skills are out of this world. You have beautiful imagination. You tell the best jokes and the most fascinating facts. You sometimes blow us over with your wisdom. You are kind and considerable. You listen to your parents. You study so well. You dance beautifully and working so hard to learn keyboard. We are so proud of how you worked hard to learn to ride bicycle. I know it was not easy for you. You overcame your fears and gave it your all.

Love, we are hard on you sometimes. We set high expectations for you to reach but remember we will never feel disappointed in you even if you don’t achieve them. We set those expectations because we want you to achieve everything you desire.

Sunshine, now that you are growing up and understanding many things, we want to share with you some life lessons that will help you forever in your life. Some your grandparents taught us, some we read and some we experienced.

    1. You are gorgeous, funny, smart, intelligent.  Someone who tells you otherwise is not worth it.

    2. We love you no matter what. We are always there for you. However big mistake you make, we may get disappointed or scold you harshly but our love for you will never ever diminish. There is nothing you can do or say that will ever change the way we love you.

    3. Always remember, inner beauty is much more important outer beauty.

    4. Choose your friends carefully. Choose friends who help you grow in some way.

    5.  Do not blindly follow others. Do what you feel right or what you need to do to be better.

    6. Remember you are privileged. Not many are. Always be grateful for that.

    7. Neve stop reading. You will learn a lot from them.

    8. There is no substitute for hard work.

    9. Complain less. Complaining doesn’t change anything except worsen your mood.

    10. You can tell anything to your mom and Dad. Your fears, your insecurities, your problems. We would love to hear you and we would do our best to help you.

    11. When someone gives you advice, listen without irritation. They are sharing their experience with you. Whether you want to follow it or not is in your hands.

    12. There are so many people who love you dearly. Always remember that.

    13. You will make mistakes. That is OK. Learn from them.

    14. Try to find joy in simple things.

    15. Never stop or be afraid to ask questions. It helps to learn new things.

    16. Always dream big. Who can’t think big are not able to achieve big things in life but don’t be disappointed with failures. Failure isn’t a weakness but a stepping stone.

    17. Give your whole heart to whatever you do otherwise you are just wasting time and money.

    18. Be confident. You can do anything.

    19. Apologize when you are wrong. It doesn’t make you smaller.

    20. If you can’t share something with your parents or are not comfortable doing it, don’t do it.

    21. Have all the fun but never compromise on your studies. Only good education will take you places.

That’s all for now. We hope you enjoy reading this letter. Your mamma and daddy are trying their best to raise you right. We make mistakes. We shout. We get frustrated. We are sorry for that but always keep in mind we love you and want the best for you.

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DARLING!

    Lots of love,

    Mamma and Daddy.

  • My birthday is coming up in few days
Let me tell you how I want to spend this day
First of all I don’t want any party
I don’t even want any balloons or candies
I want to read books for many many hours
Go to library and get carried away by their power
May be even go to zoo and the science city
In there, there are so many new exciting things to see
I want to eat my favourite food for supper
French fries and burger with lots of butter
But the best thing of my birthday is getting many presents
I think you can all guess, what I really want
I have already told my parents that gift me only books
So new books will never run out in my reading nook
Perhaps, I will cut a small tiny cake
The one which my mother and I would bake
Oh! I can’t wait for my birthday
The time to do nothing but frolic and sway
This will be my most perfect birthday
I love this plan, what do you say?

  • My teacher gave me an assignment to write on my dream house
Which one should I write about maybe a boat house
I really can’t decide on just one
There are so many great houses to choose from
It would be cool to live in a caravan
But what if I feel hot? Would it have a fan?
Actually, I want to live in an igloo
But how can I built one in Ahmedabad, I don’t have a clue
I think living in a tent would be perfect
I would live near a jungle and discover new animal facts
But what if I get attacked by a wild animal?
This is not a good plan so it’s cancelled
I can surely live in a stilt house
I love swimming so that would be nice
But what will I do if it rains too much there
I am scared of thunder so this choice is not fair
I think I would live only in my Bungalow
It’s the best of all that I now know!
